Separate indoor and outdoor tasks
A factory may use a 3-tonne truck at receiving, production lines and outdoor yards. List each route and task frequency. If the truck enters areas with hygiene or emission restrictions, its power source must meet the site's requirements.
Check aisle width with the actual pallet on the truck. An empty truck's turning ability does not establish whether it can work between racks. A material-flow plan helps identify crossings and difficult turns.

Prepare two comparable configurations
Lithium option
Specify the model, battery, charger, mast and attachments. For two shifts, provide charging breaks and workload per shift. Battery capacity on the label alone does not guarantee compatibility with every schedule.
Diesel option
Specify operating conditions, mast and tyres, and who manages fuel. Indoor use needs a separate environmental and safety assessment; refuelling convenience alone is not sufficient.
Both options must meet the same required capacity at working height and offer the same service scope. If attachments or hour limits differ, request comparable terms before comparing totals.
Confirm excess-hour and extra-shift charges early
Peak periods can mean longer running hours than originally planned. Contracts should define meter recording, included hours, excess-hour calculations and treatment of maintenance or repair downtime.
For a fleet, ask whether limits apply per truck or to the whole fleet; do not assume hours can be pooled. Record delivery meter readings and reconcile regularly to forecast costs before month-end.
Check lifting capability before choosing a 3-tonne truck
A nominal 3-tonne rating does not guarantee 3-tonne lifting in every position. Long loads, extended load centres and clamps may change the limit. Provide total pallet weight and the highest picking level for technical confirmation.
For container entry, provide door dimensions, lowered mast height, free lift and ramp arrangements. Check these configuration requirements before ordering rather than after the truck arrives.

Rental rates depend on configuration, shifts, operating hours, term and delivery location. Request the same service scope when comparing total costs.

Technical support SLA and handover plan
Agree in writing on fault-reporting contacts, service hours, response times, site attendance and arrangements during downtime. Response time is different from repair completion time; record both so the warehouse can plan goods movements.
