Replace the question “how many hours will it run?” with a work schedule
An operating hour contains different proportions of travel, lifting, waiting and auxiliary loads. A runtime figure in a reference table is therefore meaningful only under defined conditions. Record the peak periods, total pallet movements, usual lift height and rest time between work cycles. For a warehouse running two shifts, distinguish between two shifts with a long break and continuous goods movement from one shift into the next.
Ask the supplier for an energy plan covering the entire day rather than one trial run. If the factory is still at the design stage, provide two scenarios: planned throughput and peak throughput. Assumptions such as how long the truck waits or whether it can be plugged in during breaks must be confirmed with the warehouse operator, because the actual work pattern may differ from the administrative timetable.
Read battery capacity together with voltage and the control system
An Ah rating alone is not enough to compare two battery packs with different voltages. Multiplying nominal voltage by Ah can estimate nominal energy in Wh, but it does not mean all of that energy is usable under every condition. Controller limits, working load, temperature and the battery instructions must be considered together.
For an illustrative calculation, 80 V multiplied by 300 Ah gives 24 kWh of nominal energy. This is not a promise of how many hours the truck will run; estimating runtime also requires energy consumption over the work cycle and the applicable operating limits. The quotation should identify which battery pack is paired with each truck, whether it differs from the reference configuration and which document describes that pack's operating conditions.
Comparison checklist for the purchasing team
| Input | What to confirm | Mistake to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | Voltage, capacity and exact battery pack | Comparing only Ah across different voltages |
| Charger | Compatibility, power rating and supply conditions | Assuming an existing outlet is sufficient |
| Shift schedule | Peak periods and available charging time | Turning a reference runtime into a commitment |
| Environment | Temperature and options for the exact configuration | Applying features from another range |
Opportunity-charging capability must be confirmed for the actual battery
Some Hangcha lithium ranges offer fast charging or opportunity charging, but a feature from one range cannot be applied to the entire catalogue. The buyer needs confirmation of the battery type, compatible charger, power rating, charging instructions and applicable environmental conditions. Do not assume that an existing warehouse outlet can support the new equipment.
Add the charging point to the truck-route plan. Check whether the truck must travel far from the work area, whether the route crosses pedestrian traffic and whether there is enough operating space under the instructions. A qualified person must assess and install the electrical supply appropriately. If two trucks need charging in the same time window, the plan must cover the available electrical capacity and the number of charging positions, rather than only the charging specification of each individual truck.
Compare lithium and lead-acid at the same service level
A useful comparison keeps the required number of pallets and service hours the same. In addition to the purchase price, consider downtime, battery-care work specified in the documentation, supporting equipment and staff organisation. If one option needs battery changes while the other uses charging during breaks, record the cost and space required for both operating methods.
Do not use general market saving percentages to reach a conclusion for your own factory. The calculation should use measured data or clearly named assumptions, with low and high cases for sensitivity testing. For trucks already in use, weekly energy and throughput data are better inputs than a comment that they “consume a lot”. If the data does not yet exist, treat the survey period as part of the purchase decision.
Treat the operating environment as a configuration condition
Cold stores, routes through damp or dusty areas, and travel between indoor and outdoor spaces may require a specific solution. The word lithium does not by itself mean that a truck suits every temperature or can work outdoors in every situation. Request confirmation of the temperature range, protection rating and required options for the exact configuration being offered.
In particular, a truck moving in and out of a cold area follows a different pattern from one that remains inside continuously. Describe the time spent in each zone and the charging arrangement. If the power supply or charging location changes after purchase, consult the technical provider again; moving a charger involves more than carrying an item to another corner of the warehouse. The handover file should contain enough guidance for shift supervisors to take over and operate the system correctly.
Prepare an energy record before finalising the contract
A useful appendix records the truck, battery pack, charger, power-supply conditions, work schedule used for the proposal, monitoring method and responsible person. State the evaluation limits of the trial. If the truck has not been tested for enough days, do not turn one estimated shift duration into a verified commitment.
For warranty terms, ask separately about the truck, battery and charger, together with the conditions applying to each part. ACE C&T confirms the configuration, purchase price and services in the quotation or contract; do not automatically apply a warranty published for another market. A business can begin by sending the model currently in use, photographs of the charging point, the number of shifts and the time windows when truck shortages usually occur to receive advice matched to the requirement.
Frequently asked questions
Does a battery with more Ah always run for longer?
You cannot compare batteries by Ah alone when voltage and working conditions differ. Consider nominal energy, load and the operating limits of the configuration.
Do all lithium forklifts have the same opportunity-charging capability?
No. Charging features and conditions must be confirmed for the battery pack, charger and truck range being offered.
